Dan Yarnall oversees the firm’s criminal defense practice and is an attorney in the litigation practice group where he represents clients in commercial, civil and orphans’ court litigation.
As a former Chester County Prosecutor, Dan knows how prosecutors think and uses that insight to negotiate the best possible outcomes for his clients. He has spent his career building positive working relationships with law enforcement officers, assistant district attorneys and judges, and knows how to best navigate his clients through the criminal justice system.
As a Prosecutor, Dan successfully tried many felony trials to verdict. He developed a positive reputation in Chester County as prosecutor who would never back down from a trial. When not trying cases, Dan also investigated homicides, robberies, burglaries, child and elder abuse, white collar offenses and domestic violence. Consequently, he uses his knowledge and experience of how a prosecutor thinks and approaches a case when advising clients on case strategy. This can be a huge advantage to his clients.
Although Dan works tirelessly to negotiate favorable outcomes for his clients, some cases need to be tried before a judge or a jury. As a seasoned trial lawyer, Dan feels most at-home in a courtroom and in front of a jury. He has tried many cases to verdict in all different areas of criminal law and will zealously defend the rights of his clients through the verdict.
Whether your case is in the investigation phases or you have been charged, Dan will work with you to defend your rights and protect your interests. Dan also provides counsel for law enforcement officers, first responders or government agencies who are being investigated for potential criminal conduct as well as representation for witnesses or crime victims who are involved in a criminal investigation.
Dan attended Temple University Beasley School of Law where he graduated cum laude. While at Temple, Dan was awarded the Barrister Award in Oral Advocacy in Criminal Law and the Outstanding Oral Advocate Accolade and Civil Law. During law school, Dan clerked for the Honorable Garrett D. Page in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas. After finishing law school, Dan clerked for the Honorable Anthony Massi in the New Jersey Superior Court. He then joined the Chester County District Attorney’s Office where he served as a Trial Prosecutor. Prior to joining Unruh Turner Burke & Frees, Dan practiced at a prominent insurance defense firm where he represented physicians and health care professionals.
Dan is local and lives in Coatesville with his wife and three sons. When he is not in the courtroom, Dan enjoys spending time with his family, reading, writing, and cooking. Originally from King of Prussia, after attending West Chester University, Dan knew Chester County was where he wanted to raise a family and practice law.
