Despite the IRS message that certain operations, including the IRS website, would remain available during the government shutdown, we have been unable to obtain Employer Identification Numbers for the last several days, either online or by phone. The lack of an EIN means many of our clients have been unable to open a new business bank account, cannot obtain business credit cards, have seen new loan transactions delayed and are unable to secure new vendors and suppliers. We will continue to seek EINs in the hopes that website functionality will be restored and our clients can get on with their new business ventures.
